Ryan Gauld, the former Dundee United star, has been recognized for his stellar performances with Vancouver Whitecaps by earning a call-up to the Scotland national team for their upcoming UEFA Nations League matches against Poland and Portugal. I knew when it was being announced, so I woke up in the middle of the night and said, ‘Okay, call-up’—and I went back to bed.”
Gauld expressed his gratitude for being recognized once again by the national team. “It’s a nice feeling to be recognized again and get a chance to train with everyone and be around it,” he shared. “It’s going to be a good week and I’m looking forward to it.”
His return to the national team has been met with widespread support, particularly from a segment of the Tartan Army that has long advocated for his inclusion. Reflecting on the backing he’s received, Gauld said, “I appreciate the support and recognition from everyone back home who feels that I should be in the squad.”
Now, Gauld is determined to make the most of this opportunity and prove that he belongs on the international stage. “Hopefully, I can go in there and show that I should be back again,” he added. “It’ll be a good week to experience.”
