Wolverhampton Wanderers have started looking for a replacement for Jose Sa amid transfer interest from Saudi Arabia, it has been claimed.
The 30-year-old, who penned a fresh four-year contract in September, is wanted by a host of Saudi Arabia clubs, according to The Sun. The Saudi Pro League sides are keen to continue signing Premier League players after their summer recruitment.
Upon signing a new deal, Sa stated he was content at Molineux. “I’m happy, I’m here to help the team and happy with the new contract,” he said. “The future is here, I’m here to do my best. We have players here who can help and it’s with them we have to work and play all the games.”
The Sun adds that Wolves “want to recoup” around £40million for the Portugal international. Meanwhile, goalkeeping coach Neil Cutler is said to have “already started” looking at replacements abroad.
Some of the money recouped would be used on bringing in a new shot-stopper to provide competition for Dan Bentley. Sa has made 88 appearances in Old Gold since joining from Olympiacos in 2021.
