Here is a chart looking at every Cleveland Browns player’s contract status in 2024 broken into three categories:
Guarantees – This is any player with even one guaranteed dollar on their 2024 contract, I will breakdown each players guarantees in this article.
No Guarantees – These players have no financial protection next season, I have broken down a list of the seven players with $3m or more of non guaranteed cash and how I rate their risk of departing here. Several players will have roster bonuses on the first three days of the 2024 league year to force the team into early decisions on if they want to keep them around.
Free Agents – There are different types of free agents in the NFL, but all of the Cleveland Browns current ones are unrestricted free agents outside of Sam Kamara. These players have four or more years of accrued seasons, meaning they can sign for whichever team they want, and the only control a previous team has on them is a franchise or transition tag. Kamara was signed to the 53-man roster yesterday and is an exclusive rights free agent, meaning they can keep him in 2024 on a non-guaranteed minimum-cost deal if they want.

No players from the practice squad are included because they have a choice at the end of the season if they want to re-sign with the team or not. Also, the team can decide not to make them an offer as well. The majority do tend to re-sign, but some might look for another team, especially an edge (as an example) if they see the path ahead of them blocked by multiple other players.

Here are the guarantees in each player’s 2024 contract:
Deshaun Watson – $46,000,000 (fully guaranteed)
Denzel Ward – $15,924,000 ($15.324m guaranteed)
David Njoku – $14,500,000 ($3m guaranteed)
Jedrick Wills – $14,124,000 (fully guaranteed)
Jack Conklin – $13,850,000 (fully guarant eed)
Dalvin Tomlinson – $11,585,000 ($9.085m guaranteed)
Juan Thornhill – $7,000,000 (fully guaranteed)
Ogbonnia Okoronkwo – $6,420,000 ($4.25m guaranteed)
Ethan Pocic – $6,000,000 ($4m guaranteed)
Greg Newsome – $2,398,467 (fully guaranteed)
The terms of Grant Delpit’s deal are currently unknown, I will do an OBR VIP article once these are public.
Other than David Njoku, you would expect all of these other players to be on the roster for the 2024 season unless they are traded.
For a trade to happen, the other team would have to take on the guaranteed money. In many of these circumstances, it is a negotiation, and the team moving the player off ends up eating some of the money for getting a pick in return.
