Swindon Town have regrettably withdrawn from playing in this season’s Wiltshire Premier Shield, due to ongoing fixture congestion.
Town was set to face Chippenham Town in the quarter-final round of the competition, but despite offering to work with our opponents to find a suitable date this side of Christmas, unfortunately, an agreeable date couldn’t be reached.
We have made the difficult decision to withdraw from the competition due to the challenge of scheduling the game at a suitable point in our calendar and also in consideration of the wellbeing of our players, both within our first-team and academy system.
Wiltshire FA had set the date for the tie, which was scheduled to be played at Chippenham’s home ground, but after a request from the club to move this was denied and with Town’s first team and u18s looking towards crucial fixtures in their league and FA Youth Cup schedule, we have unfortunately opted to withdraw.
