The striker Richarlison has now confirmed that, hours after Tottenham’s Premier League loss to Chelsea, he will need surgery, adding to the growing list of injuries sustained by the team.
Following the match, the Brazilian declared, “I’ve had health problems.” I’ve already discussed this with the physicians, and I want to have my pubic hair operated on shortly. For the past eight months, I have been in pain, battling for both my club and my country, and not taking care of myself.
“I think it’s time to rest, to stop for a second. I’ll think about it in the next few days, and soon I will do what is best for me.”
Tottenham also lost James Maddison to an injury, even though manager Ange Postecoglou confirmed it was nothing serious and just precautionary.
He said, “He got a knock on the ankle. We were down one man already. It made sense to make a couple of changes at that point.”
However, the biggest loss will be that of Dutch defender Micky van de Ven, who looked to have picked up a serious hamstring injury and will now have to be assessed.
The Tottenham boss said, “It’s too early, but looking at Micky, you’re thinking it’s a pretty significant one, so you’d assume he’ll be out for a little while.”
Tottenham will take on Wolves in an attempt to return to winning ways before hosting Aston Villa in the Premier League.
