Phoenix Suns center Drew Eubanks is declining his $2.6 million option and entering free agency.
The Suns big man appeared in 75 games for the team a season ago. He started in 6 contests. During his first season in the Valley, Eubanks averaged 5.1 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 0.8 blocks in 15.6 minutes per game.
The Suns were caught tampering to sign Eubanks last summer, forfeiting their 2nd round pick this season. Given the struggles on the court, it was not worth the early contact.

Phoenix now has Jusuf Nurkic as the lone center under contract for next season. One of their priorities this offseason will be finding a backup big to replace Eubanks — ideally, someone they can trust to close games if necessary.
Eubanks originally signed a two-year, $5 million contract which included the player option he declined for the 2024-25 season. He was initially expected to come in and serve at the backup for Deandre Ayton (when he was signed).

He had a few memorable dunks and moments, but could never string together positive outings. It just wasn’t the fit they were hoping for. It happens.
