Swindon Town have granted permission to one of their players to leave the football club on a season-long loan deal before Friday evenings deadline.
Mark Kennedy’s side have had a successful end to the summer transfer window, landing the permanent signing of AFC Bournemouth’s Gavin Kilkenny to further bolster their midfield options.
The Robins have experienced a tricky start to the 2024/25 campaign, drawing to Crewe Alexandra and Chesterfield amongst being beaten by both Crawley Town (EFL Cup) and Walsall which has left them 21st in League Two.
However, the club have handed the green light for one of their players to leave the football club before the window closes, switching from one fourth tier side to another.
As reported by journalist Foday Manneh and supported by fellow journalist Sam Morshead, Swindon Town have granted permission for Saidou Khan to join fellow League Two side Tranmere Rovers on a season-long loan deal.
The 28-year-old is likely to have had permission to leave following Kilkenny’s earlier arrival and is set to join Tranmere before the transfer window closes tomorrow.
The player is set to undergo a medical before the deal is officially confirmed by both football clubs tomorrow.
Khan is yet to feature under new boss Mark Kennedy so far this season but was a regular feature during the previous campaign for Swindon Town.
Across all competitions, Khan made 33 appearances for Swindon last season, contributing to four goals including a strike during a 4-3 away victory against Accrington Stanley.
The other three were assists which included two in one match during a 4-2 loss against league champions Stockport County in November 2023.
However, Khan hasn’t featured for Swindon since early March and has in three of their last 19 competitive matches in all competitions, suggesting he was out of favour at the football club hence his green light to leave.
