Following his goal yesterday, Ola Aina, a defender for Nottingham Forest, received appreciation from Steve Hodge. After just six minutes of play against Aston Villa, the player gave Forest the lead.
During the summer transfer window, Aina checked herself into Forest. He was the team’s first summer acquisition, coming on a free transfer from Torino, a Serie A team.
Aina has been a great addition to the Forest team, and he scored the team’s first goal yesterday. Emi Martinez had no chance at all, as his strike flew into the net.
Hodge celebrates Aina’s first Forest goal.
Aina seized the opportunity to begin for Forest in a more natural right-back position. In the opening moments of the game, he charged forward and ended up receiving a ball from Harry Toffolo to take the shot.
Hodge expressed his admiration for Forest defender Aina on BBC Radio Nottingham following his incredible goal, saying, “It’s great technique; he got over the ball and it flew past the goalkeeper.”
The 27-year-old appears to be a terrific addition to the squad, and as the season goes on, he will want to stick with the team and score some more goals.
Aina is proving to be Steve Cooper’s wisest acquisition.
Forest is currently lacking a few full-backs. Nuno Tavares is still healing from his own ailment, while Gonzalo Montiel is out with an injury.
Aina is a versatile player for Forest, and his quickness is proving to be a very helpful quality. It’s no secret that Aina enjoys helping Cooper’s full-backs get forward.
Forest did sign a few high-profile players in the summer. But in Aina, it seems like they’ve struck gold. Few players have had the impact that the defense has at City Ground thus far.
