South Sydney Rabbitohs winger Jacob Gagai is reportedly set to join Huddersfield Giants in 2025, with a deal nearing completion. Gagai, who made his NRL debut at 28 this year, had a strong impact on the Rabbitohs despite the club’s struggles in 2024. He finished as their top try-scorer with nine tries in 17 appearances, though the team missed the playoffs.
According to reports from The Mole at Wide World of Sports, Gagai will head to Super League next year. Huddersfield Giants are expected to sign him, with Gagai likely to start on the wing alongside Adam Swift. His manager, Gavin Orr, confirmed that South Sydney didn’t offer Gagai a new deal, with his age being a factor, and that the winger would instead seize an opportunity in Super League.
Gagai debuted for South Sydney earlier this year, scoring a try in his first NRL match in Las Vegas. He is the younger brother of Newcastle Knights’ Dane Gagai and has played for Souths’ reserve team in the NSW Cup. Now, he looks set to move to Huddersfield and become the Giants’ fifth quota player for 2025, joining new signings Zac Woolford, Tui Lolohea, Adam Clune, and Jack Murchie.
