Francis Okoronkwo, a forward for Everton, and the team have reached an agreement on a new, long-term contract, sources have told Football Insider.
In 2021, the 19-year-old signed a £1 million contract to join the Toffees from Sunderland.
Everton has taken action to lock down Okoronkwo to a new long-term contract, even though his current one is set to expire in the summer of 2019.
After a breakthrough in negotiations, a complete agreement is now in place.
Okoronkwo has participated in first-team matchday squads but has not yet made his Everton debut in its entirety.
This season, the Blyth-born sensation has started every game for the Toffees Under-21 team, scoring two goals and providing one assist in nine appearances.
In 36 appearances for the Merseysiders youth team in all competitions during the 2022–2023 season, he scored eight goals and provided six assists.
Although his primary position is center forward, Okoronkwo can also play on the left side of a three-man attack.
Recently, Everton junior academy products Lewis Dobbin, Joao Virginia, and Tyler Onyango have all made breakthroughs into the main squad.
In the Goodison Park pecking order, Okoronkwo sits behind players like Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Beto, Arnaut Danjuma, and Youssef Chermiti.
Calvert-Lewin overcame his injury problems to score four goals in eight games, ranking as the team’s top goalscorer for the 2023–24 season.
