Shocking Betrayal: Ben Cavarra Slams Western Bulldogs and Reveals How He’s Dominating the VFL!

In a recent interview, former Western Bulldogs player Ben Cavarra unleashed a scathing critique of his previous AFL club, highlighting a fractured relationship and expressing deep-seated frustration over his lack of opportunities. The 28-year-old small forward, who was a promising talent in his early years, has made headlines not only for his candid remarks but also for his impressive comeback in the VFL with Box Hill.

Born on December 20, 1995, Cavarra began his football journey with the Eastern Ranges in the TAC Cup. His potential was quickly recognized, leading to his selection at pick 45 in the 2018 national draft by the Western Bulldogs. He made his AFL debut in Round 1 of the 2020 season against Collingwood at Marvel Stadium, showcasing his skills and earning initial praise.

Despite the promising start, Cavarra’s tenure with the Bulldogs was short-lived. Over the next two years, he managed just four games, scoring four goals. His limited opportunities and subsequent delisting in 2021 left him disheartened and questioning the club’s faith in him. “It was a tough pill to swallow,” Cavarra admitted. “I felt like I was given a raw deal. I put in the hard work, trained hard, and yet I was rarely given a fair chance.”

Determined not to let the setback define his career, Cavarra signed with Box Hill for the 2022 VFL season. His decision proved to be a turning point. At Box Hill, Cavarra flourished, emerging as one of the league’s top performers. He finished the 2022 season ranked third in the VFL goalkicking, an impressive feat that highlighted his ability to make an impact on the field. His stellar performances did not go unnoticed; he was selected as a forward pocket in the VFL Team of the Year alongside his teammate Fergus Greene.

Adding to his accolades, Cavarra was named captain of the VFL Team of the Year, a testament to his leadership and influence on the field. However, just as his career seemed to be reaching new heights, disaster struck. Cavarra suffered an ACL injury during the 2023 VFL pre-season, which sidelined him for the entire season.

Despite this setback, Cavarra’s resolve remains unshaken. He is currently focused on his recovery and is eager to return to the field in 2024. His experience with Box Hill has reignited his passion for the game, and he remains hopeful that he can continue to build on his recent success.

Cavarra’s comments about the Western Bulldogs reflect a broader conversation about how clubs manage and develop talent. His experience underscores the importance of providing players with opportunities to prove themselves, even when their early performances may not be stellar. For Cavarra, the journey from being a hopeful rookie to a standout VFL player is a testament to his resilience and dedication.

As he looks ahead to the future, Cavarra’s story serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of professional sports and the personal challenges that athletes face. His determination to overcome adversity and his critical perspective on his past experiences with the Bulldogs provide valuable insights into the complexities of a career in football. Whether he returns to the AFL or continues to shine in the VFL, Cavarra’s journey is one of persistence, growth, and a relentless pursuit of success.
