Report: Tottenham appoints a new chief scout, who could begin next week

Things seem to be moving very rapidly, and Tottenham Hotspur will have their guy in place by next week, despite reports that they were eyeing Rob Mackenzie of Aston Villa to join their scouting network.

If the team’s on-field accomplishments are any indication, Tottenham is putting a lot of effort into setting up a strong foundation for incoming manager Ange Postecoglou.

Over the past ten years, one of the main grievances voiced by Spurs supporters has been the organization’s approach to player acquisition. Too many high-profile additions have fallen short of expectations for far too long, and the team has suffered as a result.

Following the resignation of Fabio Paratici earlier this year, the club has now established a new hierarchy. As of right now, Johan Lange has started working as the new technical director of the Spurs, replacing Scott Munn as chief football officer.

Next week, Rob Mackenzie will join the Spurs.

Rob Mackenzie, with whom Lange collaborated at Aston Villa, may be available for a reunion, according to recent reports (Football Insider).

Matt Law revealed today that Mackenzie has left his position at Villa and will be joining Tottenham next week, indicating that Lange is a fast worker.

According to Law, Rob Mackenzie has left Aston Villa and will return to Tottenham as a top scout the following week, reuniting with fellow mover Johan Lange. Mackenzie has prior experience working at Tottenham.
