The Hatters suffered a last-minute defeat on Tuesday evening, as Declan Rice found the net in the seventh minute of added time to snatch all three points in a 4-3 win at Kenilworth Road.
But whilst Rice stole the headlines in dramatic style on the night, more eagle-eyed football fans spotted something else mind-blowing during the game.
As the TV cameras panned across Luton’s bench and manager Rob Edwards, a man sat in their dugout caught fans’ attention.
That man was Dr Amos Ogunkoya, one of the stars in the first series of the BBC’s reality TV series The Traitors.
Ogunkoya had told his competitors that he was a doctor throughout the series.
However, most fans of the show were completely unaware that he was now a Premier League club doctor – and the youngest one in the top flight, at that!
“Oh my Christ” one fan said, responding to a snap of the Hatters doctor on X.
A second replied: “This is GREAT info.”
“Been racking my brains the last half an hour trying to think why I knew him,” a third added.
According to the Royal College of General Practitioners’ website, the 31-year-old was League Two outfit Colchester United’s club doctor before being hired by Luton.
He also works as a GP, too.
“I knew it was an option, but it became more apparent that it was actually doable and that the path to being with a top team was achievable,” he told the RCGP.
“I think about it like this – there are few doctors in general and few doctors and sports scientists. I was experienced and had further qualifications, and few doctors have experience in football, so once you get those steps in, it becomes more likely.
“I didn’t think I’d be in the Premier League this quickly, but it was always part of the plan.”
