The Baltimore Ravens could use some youth on their aging offensive line, and luckily for them, there are some options they could target in the 2024 free agency. Considering their need, Cincinnati Bengals offensive tackle Jonah Williams seems to be a perfect fit.
While free agency and the offseason is far from what’s on the mind of the Ravens considering that they have a real chance at winning the Super Bowl this season, it’s not bad to assess their options to further bolster the roster and build continuity.
With that said, Bleacher Report recently came up with their free agency suggestions that could help address the upcoming needs of NFL teams. The Ravens have some key areas to address, like the cornerback and wide receiver positions, but there could be a big opportunity for them to improve their O-line.
BR suggested for the Baltimore Ravens to target Cincinnati Bengals OT Jonah Williams, noting that the upcoming free agent could very well add some much-needed youth to their strategy of rotating tackles.
The Ravens’ current right tackle is Ronnie Stanley, and Williams could play on the opposite side at left tackle while also being capable of sliding to the other position when needed. Stanley is already 29 years old, while fellow OT Morgan Moses is 32.
“This could be a real circle-of-life signing for the Ravens. Orlando Brown Jr. was unhappy in Baltimore because he wanted to make the switch from right tackle to left tackle. Ronnie Stanley’s presence on the left in Baltimore forced him over to the right side. He was traded to the Chiefs where he protected Patrick Mahomes’ blind side until the Bengals signed him, forcing Jonah Williams over to the right side. The move initially made Williams want a trade out of Cincinnati,” the BR report explained.
“Now, the Ravens could sign Williams to play right tackle with the idea that Williams could slide over when Stanley is done playing. The Ravens have resorted to rotating their tackles to keep Stanley and Morgan Moses fresh. Williams, 26, would give them more youth on the offensive line.”
Jonah Williams Could Help the Continuity of Baltimore Ravens’ Offensive Line
Jonah Williams could be a massive pick-up for the Baltimore Ravens if they make a move for him in free agency. An already dangerous offensive line would only get even more lethal with his addition.
Prior to Week 16 against the San Francisco 49ers, Pro Football Focus even ranked the Ravens’ offensive line in the Top 5 best in the NFL. They were actually higher (at no. 2) in previous weeks, but regardless of the drop, it speaks volumes on how good they are protecting Lamar Jackson and their offensive weapons.
With the potential addition of Williams, the Ravens could ensure that their O-line would constantly be dominant for at least a couple of years or more.
