Rangers’ Transfer Twist! Interest in Shankland Derailed by Celtic Theory – Synchronized Thinking Points to Hearts Star

Rangers and Celtic may be involved in a transfer fight in January involving Hearts captain Lawrence Shankland.

According to commentators Barry Ferguson and Peter Grant, both of the Glasgow giants want more firepower. Shankland saved a point for Steve Clarke’s team in the Euro 2024 qualification match in Tbilisi by coming off the bench. The Jambos will only value their star player and acting captain more as the winter transfer window draws near.

But with Rangers summer recruits yet to find top gear at Ibrox, Ferguson reckons that there will be “interest” from the Light Blues, while former Hoops star Grant believes the 28-year-old could offer a solution to Brendan Rodgers problems with the Asian Cup fast approaching.

Both Kyogo Furuhashi and Hyeongyu Oh look set to be called up by Japan and South Korea, respectively, for the tournament in January, and Brendan Rodgers has freely admitted he may try to sign a striker to cover them.

Grant told the Go Radio Football Show: “If he was playing for a Celtic or Rangers, he would be in the Scottish squad constantly. I think his all-round game has improved (at Hearts), but I’m delighted to see him back scoring goals, because that is what he does exceptionally well.”

Ferguson chimed in: “I think he has matured into a very good center-forward. He has matured into a really impressive center-forward. It’s not just his goals, but it’s his all-round play.”

Pressed on if he could be a Christmas present for Philippe Clement, Ferguson went on: “I think there will be interest in him. Whether it is Rangers, whether it’s Celtic, or elsewhere, I would certainly be looking at him.”

Former Celtic hero Grant cut in: “If you want to win competitions, you need a goal scorer, and you can’t go along with one. Take the Celtic scenario with the Kyogo incident on Sunday—he could be out for weeks with the protocol.

Oh has done exceptionally well, and he works really hard, but these teams have always had guys who would score have six chances and score four.”

Pressed on the Asian Cup scenario, Grant went on: “That’s where I think he’s at that level when you talk about strikers who play for Celtic and Rangers.” Finally, pressed on a move by Rangers, Ferguson rounded off: “I think there will be interest in him.”
