The Phoenix Suns have a multitude of problems that have contributed to them losing eight of their last 11 games and four of their last five.
However, there is one stat that has drastically dropped off since before this time.
Phoenix has 10 players on its roster that shot over 35% from three last season.
Before Nov. 29 when the Suns started this 3-8 stretch, Phoenix was second in the NBA in three-point shooting at 39.3% and were taking 33.2 three-pointers per game. Since, they are last in the league in attempts (28.2) and 29th in percentage (31.9%).
Diving deeper, the Suns have made a combined 17 three-pointers over their last three games. Phoenix is shooting 21.5% as a team from deep during this period.
This is what in part has led to the team’s leading three-point shooter in attempts and makes, Eric Gordon, to come out and say he needs to talk with coach Frank Vogel about expanding his role. Gordon had 0 points on only two shot attempts in Phoenix’s 120-105 loss to the Sacramento Kings last night.
The Suns have a huge Christmas Day matchup coming up against the Mavericks Monday night, so they need to find some answers by then.
