The Saints legend was involved in an accident as he exited his van yesterday, according to his wife. She described him as “mangled on the sidewalk” during the incident.
Steve had an accident exiting his van yesterday to speak at the Gleason Life Skills Volleyball Clinic. It was traumatic for him and for all of us who witnessed him mangled on the asphalt. Although he is hurt, it could have been much worse.
Miraculously, he was spared greater injury because he was strapped into his wheelchair and because of the swift action of his care team, a passerby doctor, and family.
I guess his van is preparing him for his fight against Jake Paul.
He is at home resting and grateful for this crazy wonderful life and the support and love from everyone.

Mrs. Gleason made a comical notion at Steve’s “upcoming fight” with Jake Paul that went viral on social media recently. After Paul’s bout with Mike Tyson, many memes were made regarding older athletes fighting Paul in the future.
Of course, those were completely fake, but Gleason decided to interact with a post about him and Paul.
Steve took it in stride and decided to play along with the narrative of a pending fight with the young boxer.
You can tell that the Saints legend still has his sense of humor in full effect.
Gleason has dedicated his life to bringing awareness to ALS, the disease he suffers from. The former NFL player created his own nonprofit organization, Team Gleason. He played for the Saints for eight years.
Hopefully, Gleason will make a full recovery from this accident during New Orleans’ bye week.
