Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino issues a warning to star player but also expresses contentment with Mykhailo Mudryk’s performance but concedes that there’s room for improvement for the Ukrainian talent on his path to becoming a true superstar. Mudryk, in the finest form since his arrival in West London, recently showcased his prowess by netting a spectacular goal against Arsenal, signaling his immense potential.
Mudryk’s standout performance against the Gunners, coupled with his international goal during the break, raised expectations. However, when questioned about the player’s newfound form, Pochettino maintained that while impressive, there’s still a considerable journey of improvement ahead for Mudryk to reach the pinnacle of his abilities.
The Chelsea manager emphasized, “While he’s performing well, there’s still room for improvement. He seemed to run out of energy on Saturday night.”
Pochettino explained, “I felt it was necessary to make a tactical change and apply more pressure on Nicolas Jackson up front. Following that adjustment, we had several opportunities, and in my opinion, the game seemed closer to a 3-0 victory than the final score of 2-1. We aimed to maintain pressure and not simply protect the lead.”
“In the end, we did make changes, bringing in Reece James and Noni Madueke, and unfortunately, we conceded a goal just two minutes after that. It was a bit unfortunate, but these are the twists of football. Despite the setback, we’re feeling a mix of disappointment and positivity. We displayed excellent character and team performance, which is truly commendable.”
Currently, Mudryk’s performance levels are quite impressive, but there is a noticeable drop in his performance during the early stages of the second half, which is an aspect he needs to focus on improving.
