Unable to make room for himself at Arsenal, Albert Sambi Lokonga has spent the last year or so away from the Emirates on loan.
This season, he was sent to newly promoted Luton Town, who shocked everyone when they made it to the Premier League for the first time, with the Belgian tasked to help them avoid the drop immediately.
Unfortunately, his season with the Hatters didn’t get off to the best start, as he picked up an injury early on, which his brother, Paul-José Mpoku, spoke to Het Nieuwsblad about, relayed by Voetbal Primeur.
He said: “This season he had no real preparation and injured himself very quickly at Luton. You learn from that too. As far as I’m concerned, it’s not a question of quality. I hope he gets fit again, can play matches and get back to the national team. He has the level for that.”
Therefore, there is a strong belief from the 31-year-old that the Luton Town loanee can turn things around at Kenilworth Road once he returns from injury.
The Hatters have actually surprised quite a few with their performances in the Premier League so far, sa they sit 17th, two points above the relegation zone after 14 games.
- While Lokonga has only played two of those fixtures, against Fulham and Wolves in September, he will be hoping to return swiftly to contribute some more, as Luton Town continue their survival quest.
