The Baltimore Ravens failed to live up to their championship expectations in 2023 as they got bounced in the AFC Championship Game by the eventual Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs.
Baltimore looked primed to return to the Super Bowl after posting the best defense in the NFL and one of the most electric offenses to boot.
Free agency cost the Ravens some of their key defensive pieces, though they were able to keep a few members from last year’s squad.
One of the most underrated signings the team made was linebacker Kyle Van Noy, who agreed on a two-year deal to stay with the franchise.
Van Noy was a late add to the roster last season, but wound up being one of the most impactful players on their defense.
The veteran revealed that he was angling to come back to the Ravens in free agency, via Around The NFL.
“I had my eyes set on this place the whole time. It wasn’t a matter of if. It was a matter of when,” Van Noy said.
Van Noy won two Super Bowls with the New England Patriots in his prime and showed that he’s still got some gas left in the tank at this point of his career.
The linebacker posted a career-high nine sacks in 2023 despite starting only three games, a testament to his productivity when given an opportunity.
Baltimore’s got young pass rushers in David Ojabo and Odafe Oweh waiting in the wings, and with Van Noy’s guidance those two could take a leap and create the defensive foundation for the organization.
