Halifax Town striker Justin Iwobi is ready and waiting for his chance to shine, despite being an unused substitute since joining the club. The 18-year-old prospect, who recently made the switch from Stoke City’s academy, is determined to make an impact and is open to going out on loan if it means gaining valuable first-team experience.

    A Promising Start

Iwobi joined Halifax last month with high hopes after a successful stint at Gosport Borough, where he made a name for himself as a formidable forward. However, since arriving at The Shay, he has yet to make his debut, leaving some fans eager to see him in action, especially as the team struggles to find a consistent goalscorer.

Manager Chris Millington previously indicated that a loan move could be on the horizon for Iwobi, but the young striker remains focused on his development. “If I have to go out on loan, I’m happy to do that as well, just to develop more,” he stated.

    Developing as a Player

Iwobi has already felt the benefits of training in a first-team environment: “I feel I’ve made good connections with people, and it’s helped me develop more into a proper striker,” he said. His commitment to improvement shines through as he absorbs valuable insights from the coaching staff on positioning and goal-scoring techniques.

“I’m waiting patiently for my chance, and when I get it, I hope to take every opportunity that comes my way,” he added, showcasing his determination to succeed.

    Overcoming Adversity

The Manchester native’s journey hasn’t been without its challenges. After joining Stoke City from Bury, Iwobi faced a significant setback due to a serious knee injury that sidelined him for nearly a year and a half. “It took me a long time to recover, but my joy for the game never stopped,” he reflected. His resilience has not only strengthened him physically but has also bolstered his mental toughness.

“I feel like it’s helped me mentally, and physically I feel stronger and quicker,” he noted, emphasizing his growth since the injury.

Iwobi expressed excitement about being part of Halifax Town, a club rich with talent and potential. “I was happy when I learned Halifax were interested because it’s coming into a first-team environment,” he said. “I knew I could learn here, and it’s helped me develop as a striker.”

As he eagerly awaits his debut, Iwobi is ready to prove his worth. “It’ll be an amazing moment for me and my family because a lot of time and effort has been put into this,” he said. “To play in a stadium full of fans and make them happy would be a joy for me.”

With his sights set on scoring goals and contributing to the team’s success, Iwobi is poised for a bright future in football. Whether through a loan move or an opportunity at Halifax, fans and teammates alike are excited to see what this talented young forward will accomplish next.
