The sacked winger could be set for a swift return to the NRL, just days after his contract was terminated.
Sacked winger Josh Addo-Carr has spoken with Parramatta as he hopes to save his NRL career.
News Corp reports Addo-Carr has met with Eels coach Jason Ryles less than a week after his contract was terminated by the Bulldogs.
Ryles and Addo-Carr have history together from their Melbourne Storm days when Ryles was an assistant to master coach Craig Bellamy.
The Eels could use Addo-Carr on the wing with incoming star Zac Lomax stating his preference is to play in the centres.
Addo-Carr has also been linked to the Dragons or a return to his first club, the Wests Tigers.
But any return will come with a delayed start to the season as he will have to serve the remaining three games of his four-match ban.
His three-year stint at the Bulldogs ended last week when he fronted the board of directors to explain why he shouldn’t have his contract torn up.
It came after the 29-year-old was pulled over by NSW Police in September, a week out from the club’s first finals games in eight years.
The 15-time NSW State of Origin representative failed the roadside test and a secondary sample returned the same outcome.
Addo-Carr has maintained he had not knowingly ingested recreational drugs and had held faint hope he would be given a reprieve by Canterbury powerbrokers.
The sacked winger was on the tools over the weekend.
He posted to his Instagram account that he has taken on a labouring job on a Sydney building site.
“I’m always providing for the family,” he told the Sydney Morning Herald about his new job.
“There are fellas out there in the same position that get up every day that have to work. They may not love it, but they do it to provide for their family. That’s what I’ve always done, always worked hard.
“The last time (I was on the tools) was when I was at the Storm in their work program. You can’t forget what other people do, and you need to be grateful for what I’ve got. Working hard has worked for me and that’s where I’ve got to today. I’ve got to keep chipping away.”
Addo-Carr also penned an emotional goodbye to Bulldogs fans the day after his contract was ended.
“To all the Bulldogs fans and family, thank you for a memorable 3 years. The love and support you’ve shown me since I arrived at Belmore has always been amazing and the memories will last forever. Bulldogs Sponsors and board thank you for ongoing support, I appreciate you all,” he said on Instagram.
“I’d also like to thank my team mates and coaching staff. We built a brotherhood that will last forever and will miss our time together on and off the field.
“I came to the Bulldogs in 2022, a time when the club was struggling and at a low point. I wanted to help bring back the club to the powerhouse it once was and most importantly, I wanted to help build a winning culture. In 3 years, I’m proud to be a part of that turnaround.
“Unfortunately, circumstances won’t allow me to be at the Bulldogs any longer but I wish the club, my team mates and most importantly the fans nothing but success.
