That figure puts the English second tier above the German Bundesliga, Spain’s La Liga and Italy’s Serie A, making it the second most attended league division in Europe. This is a 22% increase on last season.
Elsewhere, League One and League Two ranked ninth and 13th respectively, while the Championsip play-off final had a higher attendance [85,862] than the FA Cup final between Manchester City and Manchester United [84,814].
Ipswich boasted an average attendance of 28,845 last season, ranking them fifth in the division behind Sunderland [41,158], Leeds United [37,999], Leicester City [31,238] and Southampton [29,429].
Should those figures remain consistent next season, the Blues will have the 17th highest attendance in the Premier League.
