His manager, Gavin Orr, echoed those sentiments, pointing to the Sharks’ consistent backline as a roadblock. “He was in the Sharks’ top 30 but never got a chance because their backline rarely got any injuries,” Orr told Wide World of Sports.
The move to Newcastle presents a new chapter for Taukamo, who is eager to prove himself at the top level. Orr revealed that the Knights were an appealing option because of the opportunities they offer for emerging talent. “We saw more opportunity at the Knights, and hopefully he will get his chance,” Orr said.
The Knights have built a reputation for giving young players the platform to shine, and Taukamo’s arrival aligns with their strategy of injecting fresh talent into the squad.
