One of the top prospects in the 2024 recruiting class decommitted from Kentucky on Tuesday and could join John Calipari at Arkansas.
The No. 22 prospect in the 2024 recruiting class has decommitted from Kentucky and could potentially be on his way to Fayetteville. Billy Richmond, a five-star forward from Camden, N.J., announced the decision to reopen his recruitment on Tuesday afternoon.
The 6-5, 200-pound forward is a four-star prospect and the No. 22 overall player in the 2024 recruiting class, according to the 247Sports Recruiting Rankings. He’s a composite five-star recruit and rated the No. 25 overall prospect, according to the industry-generated Composite Rankings.
Richmond originally committed to the Wildcats in December of last year under then-head coach John Calipari. Last Wednesday, Calipari left Kentucky after 15 seasons and was introduced as the head coach at Arkansas. Richmond is the fifth Kentucky commitment from the 2024 class to reopen their recruitment since the Calipari news broke last weekend.
Sources tell Sportsynergy that Richmond is very close to Calipari and there’s a “really good chance” he ends up in Fayetteville. Currently, there is no known timetable on any potential decision.
On Monday, Arkansas added its first commitment under Calipari in former Kentucky big man Zvonimir Ivisic. With the addition of Ivisic, the Razorbacks still have 12 scholarship spots remaining for next year’s roster.
