Reporter David Riccio has praised the influence of Gutherson during the pre-season. Speaking to Greg Alexander and Andrew Voss on Tuesday, Riccio claimed Gutherson was looking fit and had made a huge different to the Dragons side.
“As far as his communication, it was elite class. He will be a huge influence on that Dragons side. If anything else, his communication from the back and his defensive organisation is outstanding,” Riccio said.
Although he did say his speed was not the same as it once was having undergone knee surgery last year. This was Alexander’s big concern for Gutherson with the fullback battling with injuries at the end of 2024.
“He was going hard, I could not fault his influence and athletic ability on that day…I will see say, there is no doubt he is not as quick as he used to be,” Riccio said. “That is normal, but as far as kick-returns. He was returning with venom.”
