When Mikel Arteta’s team returns to Champions League action this week, Arsenal will need to move over their humiliating Premier League loss to Newcastle United.

Saturday night’s league opener for the Gunners came about as a result of Anthony Gordon’s contentious goal. It’s safe to say that Arteta was not pleased with the way she lost.

“I feel embarrassed, but I have to be the one now coming here to try to defend the club, and please ask for help, because it’s an absolute disgrace that this goal is allowed; it’s an absolute disgrace,” he stated.

“Because it’s not a goal for many reasons; it’s not a goal for more than one reason at least,” responded Arteta. “There are too many things at risk here, and it’s not a goal. We work so hard; it’s really challenging to compete at this level, and it’s a complete shame.

“Once more, I feel ashamed to have lived in this nation for more than 20 years, and this league is by no means the greatest in the world. I apologize.

Arsenal now needs to concentrate on securing their place in the round of 16 of the Champions League. Before the final two games, a victory over Sevilla will virtually guarantee their place in the knockout stages.

After missing Saturday’s loss, Arteta will be expecting to see skipper Martin Odegaard return. soccer.London is aware that the playmaker was evaluated prior to the trip to Tyneside but was not included.

On Tuesday, Arteta is anticipated to deliver an update regarding Odegaard’s health. Emile Smith Rowe and Thomas Partey are two players who are virtually definitely going to miss the game on Wednesday.

The extent of Smith Rowe’s knee injury, which occurred before last week’s Carabao Cup loss to West Ham, is yet unknown. “There’s a problem with him,” Arteta stated. “After the game, he started to feel some pain in his knee. We are evaluating him, but there is a lot to be concerned about with him. He will be absent for several weeks.”

In Partey’s situation, football.london understands that the midfielder hurt his thigh during practice prior to Arsenal’s trip to Sevilla last month. Due to a hamstring injury, Gabriel Jesus is also out, and the Brazilian will likely be sidelined for some time.

Protector The long-term absentee is Jurrien Timber.
