Halifax manager Chris Millington provided an update on several of the club’s injured players as they work their way back to fitness. Speaking to the Courier, Millington discussed the conditions of Florent Hoti, Kane Thompson-Sommers, Ryan Galvin, Jo Cummings, Max Wright, Harvey Sutcliffe, and Zak Emmerson.
Florent Hoti
Millington expressed a strong desire to include Flo Hoti in the starting lineup for their upcoming match against Dagenham but emphasized the importance of ensuring his long-term fitness. He mentioned that Hoti might continue to make appearances off the bench as he builds up his fitness, noting that rushing him into the starting XI could lead to setbacks. The decision on whether Hoti will start or come off the bench has not yet been made.
Kane Thompson-Sommers
Thompson-Sommers is progressing well, having completed a full training session on Tuesday without any negative reactions. Millington hinted that he might be back in action as early as next week, depending on his continued progress.
Max Wright and Ryan Galvin
Both players are further behind in their recoveries. Although they have returned to full training, Millington stated that there are still elements of their recovery that need to be completed before they can be considered for selection. Their return will be managed carefully to avoid any setbacks.
Harvey Sutcliffe
Sutcliffe is possibly closer to returning compared to Wright and Galvin. However, Millington stressed that because Sutcliffe is new to the demands of senior football at the National League level, they will not take unnecessary risks with his recovery. They plan to follow a cautious approach similar to that of the other injured players.
Zak Emmerson
Millington is optimistic about Emmerson’s role in the team but wants to avoid rushing him back into action. Drawing comparisons with how they integrated players like Milli Alli and Andrew Oluwabori, Millington noted that Emmerson will only be introduced to the starting lineup when he is fully ready, to prevent overexposure too soon.
Overall, Millington’s approach is cautious, ensuring that players return to full fitness before being reintegrated into the squad to avoid any potential setbacks or injuries.
