The South Sydney Rabbitohs are excited to announce Charlie Gallico as the 2024 Westfield Local Hero, honored for his remarkable commitment to enhancing the lives of those in his community.
Charlie’s nomination came as no surprise to those familiar with his work. He frequently visits hospitalized children, supports Indigenous youth, and is actively involved in community events. His lifelong dedication to helping others, coupled with his immense generosity and compassion, has positively impacted countless lives, making him a true community pillar.
At a special event at Westfield Eastgardens, Charlie received a $20,000 grant to support Souths Cares, the charity he chose. This funding will facilitate four leadership and cultural camps for Indigenous youth, furthering Charlie’s mission to create a lasting difference.
The Westfield Local Heroes program highlights individuals across Australia and New Zealand who make significant contributions to their communities, with Charlie Gallico being an exemplary hero.
Alisha Parker-Elrez, CEO of Souths Cares, stated, “Charlie’s generosity will have a long-lasting effect, allowing us to assist individuals and families through our programs. This funding will help us continue creating opportunities while providing essential resources that inspire positive change.”
Nominations are evaluated by selection panels based on specific criteria to shortlist three finalists at each Westfield Centre.
Congratulations to Charlie and all the finalists for their valuable contributions to the local community.
