The Los Angeles Lakers and Phoenix Suns both saw their postseason run end, with the Denver Nuggets surpassing the former and the Minnesota Timberwolves fizzling out the latter. With the results, the head coaches of the teams have encountered a critical juncture that hangs in the balance, currently.
During one of the episodes of TNT Sports, “Inside the NBA” the Round Mound of Rebound, Hall of Famer, and now analyst Charles Barkley embarked on an ardent defense of Darvin Ham and Frank Vogel. Barkley, in his thoughts, represented the idea that the majority of media hosts are overlooking the truth because they want the players to admire them.
He mentioned, “Part of our job, we watch all the games and we watch all the talk shows. A lot of these people on television they are cowards. They want the player to like them, they don’t want to do their job, which is to tell the truth. I just want to say this about coaching. Anybody who thinks the reason the Lakers suck is because of Darvin Ham or the reason the Suns suck is because of Frank Vogel, you don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Barkley further continued, “Frank Vogel is a hell of a coach. Darvin Ham is a hell of a coach, trying to get his career started. For all you punks, idiots and jackasses on other networks, who want to be media and who want all the players to like y’all, do your damn job. The Lakers suck and the Suns suck because of the players. It has nothing to do with the coaches.”
Barkley additionally added that other concerned parties should be answerable as the responsibilities should not only fall on the shoulders of the head coaches. Barkley mentions, “Who put them trash a** teams together need to get fired. They didn’t all of a sudden suck as coaches, the people who put them teams together should start packing their stuff.”
The analyst made compelling statements for both Vogel and Ham. However, despite their situations, both teams had distinct blockages to deal with during their postseason series. The Lakers and the Suns were squads led by superstars and encountered incredible competition from the the emerging teams.
