Celtic are on the hunt for a striker this summer following Hyeongyu Oh’s £4.5 million transfer to Genk. Among their targets is Adam Idah, with ongoing negotiations with Norwich City for the Republic of Ireland international.
Idah, who scored nine goals in 19 appearances in the latter part of the previous season, has already attracted interest from the Bhoys, but the situation remains unresolved.
Given the uncertainty surrounding Idah’s potential move, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is likely considering alternative options. One such option is Bristol City striker Tommy Conway.
Conway has refused to sign a contract extension with the Robins, which has led to speculation about his future. Reports suggest that Celtic might target Conway in January, as they would only need to pay £300,000 in compensation due to his contract expiring in the summer of 2025.
Bristol City manager Liam Manning confirmed that Conway has been training with the Under-21 side after turning down a contract offer and expressing a desire to leave. Manning emphasized the club’s focus on players committed to their goals, indicating that Conway’s departure is likely.
Conway is no stranger to Scottish football fans, having been a late addition to Steve Clarke’s Euro 2024 squad due to Lyndon Dykes’ injury, though he did not make an appearance in the tournament.
Last season, he impressed at club level, scoring 12 goals in 43 appearances for Bristol City, showcasing his finishing ability and knack for getting behind defenses.
With Kyogo Furuhashi currently the only senior center-forward at Parkhead, Celtic’s need for striking reinforcements is evident. Conway, with his proven talent and potential, could be a valuable addition to Rodgers’ squad, helping to bolster their attacking options as they aim for continued success in domestic and European competitions.
