Castleford Tigers have dropped a pretty sure-fire hint about who their next signing will be.

That comes after the club announced the signing of half-back Daejarn Asi, the 24-year-old from Parramatta Eels who already has over 40 NRL appearances and international Test experience.

Asi didn’t make the Samoa side to face England but two of Castleford’s other players have been on international duty and are currently representing Papua New Guinea in the Pacific Championships.

Liam Horne, in his first full season in first-grade rugby league, was one of the Tigers’ stand-out players.

Originally making his debut in August last year in a 28-0 loss to Huddersfield Giants, he has become an important player in all of the hooker, loose-forward and prop positions, in and around the appearances of Paul McShane and young Cain Robb.

One particular notable performance came against Catalans Dragons when he scored twice and was electric with the ball in hand in a 24-18 victory, the last game of their mid-season purple patch.

Alongside him in the PNG team is Sylvester Namo, who scored for his country last week, with other Super League names in the team including Nene Macdonald and Rhyse Martin. Namo joined the club at the start of the 2024 campaign and has made 15 appearances.

Another player in the Kumuls team is hooker Judah Rimbu, who has looked electric.

He has long been reported to be heading to Wheldon Road as a quota signing, and it seems that this is about to be confirmed.

In a tweet today, the club posted photos of Horne and Namo.

However, they also left a hint about who could be joining Daejarn Asi through the front door in Castleford.

An eyes emoji seems to be looking forward to the announcement of a fantastic young talent who could be a major coup for the Tigers, and who would push Liam Horne into loose-forward to transform the pack.

They have reportedly beaten NRL sides to his signature with reports from Down Under revealing that Rimbu has penned a two-year deal after turning down NRL teams.
