Paulo Bernardo has had in-depth discussions with former Celtic star Jota regarding his time at the club.
After two great seasons in Glasgow, the winger signed Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad for £25 million during the summer transfer window.
Bernardo, who is on loan from Benfica for the season, revealed the two men are close.
“I’m working harder to make an impact,” he remarked. Jota has left his mark, and now I want to make mine.
“We’re close. I talk to him a lot, but now I have to establish my own history here, and perhaps it will be as good as his.
“He informed me that the city was nice, and I agree. He informed me about Celtic, saying that it was a pretty fantastic and huge club, similar to what we’re used to in Benfica, but also a really big club.
“He said it’s not too different; I think the only difference is the weather!” “I’m having a great time in Glasgow, just as Jota predicted.”
Bernardo also discussed how the Portuguese league is “boring” in comparison to the Scottish Premiership.
He has struggled for consistent game time since joining Celtic on loan, but due to Reo Hatate’s hamstring injury, the midfielder has played prominently in the Parkhead club’s last two games against Atletico Madrid and Hibernian.
The 21-year-old also explained the fundamental contrasts between playing in Portugal and Scotland.
“The game is more intense in football here,” he remarked. The game is never over. In Portugal, we lost some time in the game because all of the players collapsed to the ground, causing the referee to call a timeout.
“Compared to being here, it’s a little boring.” That is what I have i have noticed most that it is diffrent.
