Rangers face Aberdeen this weekend in what is sure to be a close encounter, a lot closer than their trip to Parkhead was anyway.
Kris Boyd was quick to point out that Barry Robson will have his team fired up because of who the opposition is, a comment that has annoyed more than just Dons fans.
Rangers are a different animal to the one that so meekly surrendered at Ibrox earlier in the season and the Aberdeen boss is fully aware of the threat that Philippe Clement’s side now pose, as reported by the Press and Journal.

Under Michael Beale, goals from open play seemed to be scored more by chance than any set game plan or patterns of play other than from the full-backs throwing crosses into the box.
Since the new boss took charge, there has been an immediate improvement in terms of creating chances and scoring goals, the squad also seems to have a clearer idea of what the instructions are.
As Robson says, it is a different team that will be turning up at Pittodrie:
“It is a massive game against Rangers.
“Clement has come in and gone a bit more direct as a team.
“They want to play forward, we’ve seen that in the way they play.
“They seem to want to come after you a lot more.
“As Rangers teams are they will be very difficult to play against and I am sure Sunday won’t be any different.”
The cup final is a massive game but, sitting in ninth place in the league, you would think Robson would use this sort of terminology against the teams around them in the table rather than one who they aren’t really competing with.

On one hand he is saying that he prepares for every game exactly the same and wants to win them all but the gives the Rangers v Aberdeen game special billing.
Hopefully, the real Rangers turn up this time and that every minute is difficult for Aberdeen from the first to the last.
